Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam Each building was assigned a slogan which reflected the departments which were showcased within, created by using a different handmade typographic technique. The slogans were screen printed on one side and maps were printed as a pattern on the backside of the posters using an offset method since they required a high degree of detail. The final step involved postering the completed thousand prints throughout the city of Amsterdam, and cutting up an additional thousand prints to be used as hand–out maps at each location. This way, visitors to the show could take a piece of the slogan around with them. This was an example of both a mass campaign and a cost effective solution to bringing enthusiasm and practical information to this large exhibition. |
